205 SUPERB ANTIQUE ENGLISH SILVER TROPHY CUP AND COVER,1859, 15",GOAT FINIAL, PLOUGH , SHEEP , CORN.

205 .Exceptional antique English silver trophy cup and cover hallmarked for Sheffield 1859 , the maker Henry Wilkinson. The overall height is 15.35 inches , the diameters , base 6 inches, cup top 6.4 inches , handle width 12.2 inches. The weight is 1651 grams, 53.08 troy ounces. This cup and cover celebrates  agriculture in a most flamboyant manner ! The finial is a goat , horned of course, standing in a meadow. Two vacant cartouches are garlanded by oats , barley and wheat . Beneath one cartouche is a repousse depiction of a hand plough , beneath the other a repousse landscape of rolling hills , a sheep with two lambs in the foreground. As for the rest of the cup and cover , well, apart from the two vacant cartouches , it is virtually covered with repousse garlands , foliar and floral motifs et al , all going to make this an exuberant tribute to agriculture. Did I forget the handles ? Oh no ! , just look at them ! Victorian majesty at its best!  Needless to say , the whole is in excellent condition , beautifully polished ready for you to display or present.Enjoy!
