332 ANTIQUE ENGLISH TROPHY CUP AND COVER , JOHN EMES 1800, NOT INSCRIBED.

This majestic silver trophy cup and cover , made when George III was on the throne , is hallmarked for London 1800 , the makers mark that of John Emes.  As you would expect , the hallmarks are up under the base.The overall height is 14.4" , the diameters , base 5.2" , cup top 5.9" , handle width 9.1" . The weight is 1398 grams, 44.94 troy ounces. Classic design , the only decorations being ribbed edges to finial  , cup top, and base edge. The handles are also of ribbed form , dropping into plain sheaths which serve as fixings to the lower parts of the cup body.A most elegant example of Georgian design , superbly crafted and ,of course, in excellent condition. Not inscribed , so plenty of room for any amount of inscriptions.
