338. Spectacular , large , antique silver trophy cup by Charles Frederick Hancock , hallmarked for London 1869. Gilded inside and partially gilded to handles and top rim.Stamped on bottom rim of base : HANCOCKS & CO 39 BRUTON ST LONDON.An imposing piece of antique silver , the overall height to handle tops is 15.9", diameters , base 6.4" cup top , 9.1" , handle width 13.9". The weight is 2697 grams, 86.55 troy ounces. An oval foliar cartouche to the obverse frames a wondrous applied sculpture of a huntsman blowing his horn, three hounds responding.The reverse has a studded oval frame surrounding a vacant cartouche.The whole cup base sits in a running acanthus leaf girdle. The top rim decoration is in the form of an applied  deep and  impressive Greek key band , gilded as previously mentioned. The handles are square section , tapering down from the tops to finish in acanthus leaf sheaths. The square sections are embellished with guilloche decoration . The short stem tapers down to the base , which is topped with a running design of stylised acanthus leaves.
